Gabriel, an Arsenal defender, has stated that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club due to a dispute with the coaching staff, but that the players wanted him to stay.
After departing the Emirates Stadium by mutual consent the day before, the striker joined Barcelona in early February.
Aubameyang, 32, has not played for Arsenal since December 6, and his captaincy had been stripped from him by Mikel Arteta later that month.
There had been rumours that Arteta and Aubameyang had a falling out, and Gabriel has now confirmed that this was the truth.
'Aubameyang is in my heart,' the Brazilian told the Oh My Goal YouTube channel. 'We all wanted him at Arsenal.''It was something between him and the coaching staff; none of the other players were involved.' I said my goodbyes to him before he departed, and I wish him well in Barcelona; he is a wonderful person with a great heart, and I adore him.'
Arsenal's Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 games, but his stay with the club was marred by disciplinary issues.
The club'reminded him of his responsibilities' after he violated COVID-19 standards by getting a tattoo and reporting late to the squad on many occasions. Last weekend, Aubameyang made his mark at Barcelona, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Valencia in La Liga.
He added to that on Thursday night, when he scored in the Europa League's 4-2 triumph over Napoli.
